- The Speed Of Trust Summary
The Speed of Trust is an amazing book, starting with its novel and powerful title -- my greatest wonder was why it hadn't been written before. From the epigraph -- 'Speed happens when people truly trust each other' -- to the closing bell, this is a book worth savoring -- and implementing.' The Speed Of Trust summary shows you why trust makes everything faster, how you can build it like confidence and why McDonald's is a prime example.

Stephen M. R. Covey shows how trust—and the speed at which it is established with clients, employees, and all stakeholders—is the single most critical component of a successful leader and organization.
Stephen M. R. Covey, widely known as one of the world’s leading authorities on trust, asserts that it is “the most overlooked, misunderstood, underutilized asset to enable performance. Its impact, for good or bad, is dramatic and pervasive. It’s something you can’t escape.” Thankfully, it’s is also the thing that can dramatically improve your personal and professional success.
Why trust? The simple, often overlooked fact is this: work gets done with and through people. The Speed of Trust offers an unprecedented and eminently practical look at exactly how trust functions in every transaction and every relationship—from the most personal to the broadest, most indirect interaction. It specifically demonstrates how to establish trust intentionally so that you and your organization can forego the time-killing, bureaucratic check-and-balance processes that is so often deployed in lieu of actual trust.
This 2018 updated edition includes an insightful afterword by the author which explores ten key reasons why trust is more relevant now than ever before—including how trust is the new currency of our world today.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Trust is so integral to our relationships that we often take it for granted, yet in an era marked by business scandals and a desire for accountability this book by leadership expert Covey is a welcome guide to nurturing trust in our professional and personal lives. Drawing on anecdotes and business cases from his years as CEO of the Covey Leadership Center (which was worth $160 million when he orchestrated its 1997 merger with Franklin Quest to form Franklin Covey), the author effectively reminds us that there's plenty of room for improvement on this virtue. Following a touching foreword by father Stephen R. Covey (author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and related books), the junior Covey outlines 13 behaviors of trust-inspiring leaders, such as demonstrating respect, creating transparency, righting wrongs, delivering results and practicing accountability. Covey's down-to-earth approach and disarming personal stories go a long way to establish rapport with his reader, though the book's length and occasional lack of focus sometimes obscure its good advice.
Valuable foundational knowledge
For business, for family, for relationships, for life, this book has taught me such great core concepts that are applicable to all levels of my life. The authors have done an amazing job at breaking down and dissecting aspects of trust into understandable and memorable writing. This is definitely a book I would recommend.
The speed of trust
Excellent read. Great examples and relevant to today!
Best Book I read in 2011
What a fantastic, inspirational, and insightful read. This book is relevant whether you are in a small or large organization, family matters, or intimate personal relationships. I am in outside sales and no book has ever given me the wisdom, peace, and knowledge and understanding of trust in business and the dynamics it plays in our day to day interactions. I found myself high lighting many passages through out the book to reference for a later time. I have recommended this book to at least a dozen other colleagues, 5 clients, and family members. it also encourages us to not only be better people but to inspire others to be better people as well through the simple act of trust.
Thank you Mr. Covey!
